A gentle walk around Pickering was our argues day adventure. The walk began in the streets if the villages, and took us through the newer suburbs. Once at the end of the road, we asked along a track that soon dwindled to a path and the over goriness of it led us to believe that it wasn't often used. We thrashed our way through and found a woodland path. We had the place to ourselves, bar the birds, which was peaceful. There was evidence of the dark side, as we came across feathers and carcasses that we thought were the work of the fox. Crossing up hill in a field we made slight detour to look at the view and then found the right path. Soon we were trekking through fields, one field in rye grass, the next mown, the next buttercups then barley- a great variety! Through the wild garlic woodlands, down over the beck and through somebody's back yard to our start.(the back yard belong to the Duke of Lancaster, I don't think he was home at the time!) A visit to the Museum completed the day. It's a bit sad when there are many things in the museum that you remember or that you have one of. http://www.beckislemuseum.org.uk/
