Brother John arrived on Thursday evening and to celebrate the event we went out for a meal at the White Swan Inn, which was very nice too. After much deliberation and map consultations on Friday, we took advantage of John's wheels to drive to the other end of the Cinder Track at Whitby, and plod the old track to Robin Hood's Bay. Frequent blog readers will know that M and I walked from the Bay to Ravenscar previously. 'twas an easy walk to being with being an old railway track. It took across the Larpool viaduct, high above the river and the railway with great views. We could clearly see Whitby abbey in the backward horizon, but this soon disappeared into the distance as we plodded on. We stopped at Hawkser where the old railway station is a bike hire place and refreshment stop. Alas, no tea!! Only cold drinks..... When we got to The Bay, John forwent the pleasure of climbing down the hill and up again in favour of a rest on the bench to gaze out to sea. There was family pushing a wheelchair with gran in it up the hill, it was taking three of them with several rest stops. Once we returned to the top, we made our way to Whitby by bus and thence to pick up the car. Navigating a different way home, to take in different views, we arrived home a little footsore and weary.
