Bunnies on the lawn at dawn, sun sprinkling throughout the trees, a good day to be had! We left the rest of the family to get out and about, to school fro Kristy, to the gym for John. Sarah drive us into Reigate and left us todo some retail therapy. We also had aside and enquired of the waiter as to the whereabouts of a computer shop. Bad idea, he did not speak English very well and his European accent was hard to understand. The gist was however, that there were no shops that could fulfil our needs! We set off out of town towards Reigate Heath armed with M and S sandwiches and we turned off the main and busy noisy road to the more tranquil shades of the lane leading up to the North Downs. Highly suspicious of impending uphill climbs we were pleasant surprised when the path merely meandered around the foot hills through woods and chalk land paths. We stopped to eat our lunch in a small clearing that overlooked the fields. The sun was hot, the food was good(salmon and cream cheese sarnie, fresh fruit salad, mixed nuts). The cleansing was crazed, but had a wide range if wild flowers scared amongst the pricey bits, including wild strawberries. We could see way down, and last off the landscape was Gatwick Airport. It was bizarre watching planes apparently disappear into the bushes, as they landed and to watch one rise out of the bushes... It is a very busy bit of air space but fascinating to watch. Map reading in form today and we got back to the house in plenty of time. A quiet and stately home afternoon spent reading under the trees in the garden, while Sarah and John were working in the studio and M was preparing a fine rhubarb crumble for tea. Feel I should have been reading poetry or something deep and meaningful in those surroundings, but it was a Dick Francis novel that I was reading. Bunnies were back in the lawn this evening too.
