Returned the car without adding any scratches to it. The plane was delayed so began to think our car at Heathrow might pack up and go home! Very hot on the plane and once again, no refreshments unless you bought them. Zoomed though passport control with our British passports, and luggage arrived quickly and with nothing to declare we were through to the arrivals hall. ice feeling to see my name on a card held by a handsome young man, who invited in taking both our suitcases cos he didn't want us ladies exerting ourselves!! Not arguing this time! Not a taxi but a rather nice Mercedes was our chariot. The young man was from Rumania and chatted away while successfully negotiating full on traffic. And soon we were deposited at our door. A ring on the doorbell brought young Tom to the door who took us through the details of the flat which was smaller than the photos on the Internet indicated, but cosy and tasteful. A couple of items from the supermarket, and a Thai meal at the local pub was out first evening's entertainment. The next day, up with the larks, out down the street lined with leafing and blossoming trees and balk birds chirping. Many of the house n this are are being renovated, tall stately houses being turned into many flats. Today was visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum for afternoon tea. Amazing architecture, the building sometimes more interesting than the exhibits. Tea and cakes out I the garden, we kept the paper cups because they were William Morris designs. One day in and we are really quite expert at negotiating the tube.
